What Does This Calculator Compute?
This date difference calculator finds the exact number of days between any two dates, including the years-months-days breakdown, total weeks, working days (Monday–Friday), total hours and minutes. It handles dates across any time span — past or future.
The "working days" count excludes weekends (Saturday and Sunday) but does not currently account for Indian public holidays, which vary by state. For project timelines and legal deadlines, manually subtract the relevant public holidays from the working days result.
lightbulb Example Calculation
Scenario: Rohan wants to know how many days until his CA exam on 15 Nov 2025 from today (23 May 2025).
1Total days = 176 days
2Breakdown = 5 months 23 days
3Working days = ~126 study days
✓ 15 November 2025 falls on a Saturday
Practical Uses

- Contract duration: Calculate days between contract start and end dates for legal purposes
- Pregnancy tracking: Days elapsed since LMP or days remaining until EDD

Key Terms
- Calendar Days
- All days including weekends and public holidays. Used for legal deadlines, contract terms, and most personal calculations.
- Working Days (Business Days)
- Weekdays only — Monday through Friday. Excludes weekends. Used for business contracts, notice periods, and project planning. Subtract public holidays for precise counts.

quizFrequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate age in days from date of birth?
Enter your date of birth as the Start Date and today's date as the End Date (use the "Today" button). The "Total Difference" shows your exact age in days. For example, someone born on 15 March 1995 is approximately 11,026 days old as of 23 May 2025. Age in days is a fun metric — it also tells you when you hit milestones like 10,000 days old (roughly age 27.4) or 20,000 days old (roughly age 54.8).
How is the years-months-days breakdown calculated?
The breakdown uses calendar arithmetic rather than simply dividing by 30 or 365. It calculates complete years between the dates, then remaining complete months (accounting for variable month lengths — February, 30-day months, etc.), then the remaining days. This is why 1 month can be 28, 29, 30, or 31 days depending on which months are involved. For example, from 31 January to 28 February is 1 month 0 days (not 28 days), while from 1 January to 1 March is exactly 2 months (59 or 60 days).
Does the working days count include Indian public holidays?
No — the working days calculation excludes only weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Indian public holidays vary significantly by state, bank, and type of institution. National holidays (Republic Day 26 Jan, Independence Day 15 Aug, Gandhi Jayanti 2 Oct) apply universally. State-specific and bank holidays vary. For precise working day calculations for legal or contractual purposes, use this calculator as a base and manually subtract the relevant holidays for your state and institution. The Government of India publishes a list of gazetted holidays each year.
How many days are in a month or year on average?
A calendar year has 365 days (366 in a leap year). The average Gregorian year is 365.2425 days. A month varies: January, March, May, July, August, October, December have 31 days; April, June, September, November have 30 days; February has 28 days (29 in leap years). Average month = 365.2425 ÷ 12 = 30.44 days. Leap years occur every 4 years, except centuries not divisible by 400 (so 2000 was a leap year; 1900 was not). The next leap year after 2024 is 2028.
